It's been up a few days now but just getting round to writing it up in the blog. The Spreadsheets Direct Stock Exchange Tracker lets you follow the world's main stock exchanges with ease.

The Spreadsheets Direct Stock Exchange Tracker lets you keep track of the FTSE100, DAX, BOVESPA, DOW30, NIKKEI, S&P500 and S&P ASX200. Select a timezone to display stock times in using the dropdown above. The spreadsheet can be set to automatically update every x amount of minutes using the spin control above. Press Start to set the update in motion and Stop to cancel it. Alternatively you can use the Refresh button on the individual sheets.

On the individual exchange sheets the top sections lets you filter out an individual company to track. The right side displays the total number of members, the amount unchanged, number of companies who's stock is up and number of companies who's stock is down.

The left of the lower section shows data for all exchange members with the right section showing the top 10 risers and fallers.

Office 2010 Beta Workgroup Problem

I downloaded the beta version of Office 2010 the other day (available here). From what I saw it doesn't look too different to Office 2007 apart from the ribbons having a few different size buttons on. One side affect from having it on my system though seems to have been it blocking my Workgroup from seeing other computers. The computer with the beta on was a Vista laptop and I also have an XP laptop and Ubuntu desktop that can access the workgroup. The XP & Ubuntu computers could see and access the other computers but for some reason Vista couldn't see them. After a lot of messing around and googling to find an answer to no avail it clicked that the problem had only started since I installed Office 2010 beta so I decided to uninstall it and after a reboot the workgroup was back up and accessible. So just a warning if you wan't to try the beta go ahead and download it, it's free so might help you out if you desperately need to work on a spreadsheet but just beware that with it being a beta things might go wrong or other things might be affected.

I've recently had problems with files using the EOMONTH function in 2007. Files with the function in sometimes come up with the following warning message:

Once the file opens the cell with the EOMONTH function in just displays =#N/A
As a result I've created the following function to replace the EOMONTH function. The function uses the same criteria as EOMONTH but uses the word Lastday. The function is used like =Lastday(start_date,months)

The Spreadsheets Direct Bet Tracker spreadsheet will allow you to easily keep track of your online betting for upto four accounts with a summary of your betting and graph representations of Profit/Loss & Account balances. Enter an Account Name to appear on the Financial Analysis graphs. Select the odds format you want to enter bets in from fractions, decimals, American, Hong Kong, Indonesian or Malaysian and the dropdown in the Odds column with change to match. The Deposit (+) / Withdrawal (-) column allows you to enter/remove money from your account. The Account column gives a running total of your funds from deposits/withdrawals and bet winnings/losings. The Date column is used to in show your data in the graphs on the Financial Analysis sheet. The Time, Venue/Race & Bet columns are optional columns to allow you to keep track of your bets. In the Type column you can choose if you are placing a bet or a lay. Enter the Odds from the dropdown and a Stake. For an E/W bet select the fraction from the dropdown that the place will pay of the main bet odd. In the Result column select W (win), P (place) or L (lose) and the Profit/Loss column will automatically calculate your winnings. Each Account sheet will allow upto 10000 lines to entered. To clear the entered data click the Clear Data button on each sheet. The Bet Summary sheet will show you the total number of bets placed, wins, win %, total amount bet & total winnings. On the Financial Analysis sheet select a Start Month & Account from the dropdowns and the graphs will update to match.

British Open Golf Royal Birkdale Sweepstake Kit

It's only a few days to go to the start of the British Open Golf Championships at Royal Birkdale and my home town of Southport has been gearing up for it for months now. Vista Black Screen Of Nothingness

Just spent most of the morning/afternoon trying to get on to my laptop after Vista decided to show a black screen with just the mouse arrow instead of the login screen. Looking round the net it appears to be a common problem with Vista but none of the fixes worked for me.

Eventually I found that the following fixed the problem:
On bootup press F8
Select the Repair option (already highlighted. I missed it to start with thinking it was the heading).
On the program that loads choose the option to restore.
On the list of restore points choose one from a few days earlier when you computer was last working. My last restore point had been created the day before the problem and was created due to a Windows update so assume this must have caused the problem.
Once the restore has finished you should be able to login as normal.

It's Wimbledon fortnight from Monday 23rd June to Sunday 6th July so I've added a results tracker to help you keep track of how Federer, Nadal, Murray, Ivanovic, the Williams sisters et al are doing. Due to the number of players in both the Gentleman's & Ladies championships I've split them up into two files. The files contain three sheets, the first 3 rounds for the top and bottom half of the draw are split over two sheets with rounds 4 to the final on the third.
